The Voigtländer 40 mm F1.2 Nokton II VM combines modern high performance with the timeless charm of classic lens design. Two double-sided aspherical lens elements guarantee excellent image quality – even at open aperture. The large maximum aperture of F1.2 enables a soft, smooth bokeh and opens up creative scope in available light.

Despite its exceptional speed, the lens remains surprisingly compact: with a length that is ideal for working with rangefinder cameras and a weight of just 267g (without accessories), it is light and balanced in the hand. The short length also reduces vignetting in the viewfinder image – a real advantage when working with optical viewfinders.

The optical design comprises eight elements in six groups, including two aspherical lenses on both sides. The close focusing distance in rangefinder mode is 0.7m – with Live View it is even possible to focus down to 0.5m. This opens up additional possibilities for detailed shots and creative perspectives.

The precisely manufactured focusing unit made of solid metal, together with a high-quality lubricant, ensures velvety-smooth, sensitive focusing – perfect for demanding manual photography.

The connection is made via a VM mount, which is fully compatible with the Leica M mount. The lens not only harmonizes with classic rangefinder cameras, but also cuts an excellent figure on mirrorless digital cameras with an adapter – both technically and optically.

For optimum protection against stray light, the optionally available metal lens hood is recommended. This is available either as a compact version (LH-14) or in a longer version (LH-15). Both models can be mounted upside down to save space during transportation.

For the fans: Differences to version I: the total weight has been further reduced (315g vs 267g), and the filter ring is now completely black (instead of silver). The optical design has not been changed.
