Vintage 50s Italian Bronze Sculpture of Roman Warrior/Gladiator on Marble Base

Weren’t the Romans soldiers so well put together. This Vintage Italian Bronze Sculpture depicts a Roman Gladiator, with sword drawn and brandishing a shield, about to charge in battle. The shield, his body and his face are all nicely sculpted. In fact, it’s clear that the artist was emphasizing the body of the Gladiator by only hiding the bare necessities. A gladiator usually wore a particular outfit when fighting.

There are numerous less quality versions of this 1950’s original. But this one is the real deal. I love the way this piece has been burnished, almost blackened in places and other places are polished. This is such a statement piece. I would put this front and center on a console table or end table, or among your other fabulous sculptings.
