The brainchild of the prolific Amos Larkins II, a well-schooled multi-instrumentalist and one of the premier architects of the Miami electro / house scene as well as one of the main originators of the highly influential Miami bass scene, Sole Soma presents a deep house vibe centered around female vocals and future forward beats that sound like nothing else on the market today. After earning high praise from their first full-length release, "Pleasure No Pressure," this wonderful new collective is about to release their second album, entitled "Off Of Your Mind." Whereas the first album was centered around the vocals of the Congolese songstress Sole Soma, who left Africa for the Bahamas and eventually settled in Miami, what they were able to achieve was an overall sound that was more than the sum of it's parts - they had indeed created something entirely new, which they never could have achieved without Sole's original vibe. With a new baby on the way, Sole no longer has time to sing with the collective but the sound she helped to create is fully intact and expanding. Amos has found a worthy replacement in the young upcoming vocalist Victoria Sadana, and guest vocalist Regina Johnson who contributes on one track, "Time Out." Sole, who now acts as a consultant to the collective, has agreed that the project should continue to be named "Sole Soma" as she is still with the collective in spirit. Sole Soma is no longer one person in this context, it is an ideal that will continue to expand with each successive release. Long live Sole Soma and welcome the new chapter with "Off Of Your Mind," their brilliant second album.
