This
trailer mounted light mast with solar generator has a 16" x 16" x 8" junction
box mounted at the top of the mast for connecting cameras and other devices. The
junction box is ideal for mounting security cameras for a 360° field of view
along with other electrical devices for each operator`s specific needs. External
coil tubing runs around the mast to allow operators to run Ethernet cable to the
junction box. The entire assembly is mounted onto a 8` single axle trailer,
allowing operators to transport this portable solar light tower from location to
location.
Solar Powered Light Tower:
This solar light tower includes four solar panels, solar charging
system, battery bank and electric mast mounted on a trailer with
outriggers. This 1.06KW solar generator system replenishes amp hours of usable
battery capacity per day, assuming 4.5 hours of peak charging sunlight. This
system delivers 24 volts for equipment mounted atop the 30` telescoping light
mast. This unit is capable of powering up to 360 watts of equipment for 24 hours
per day. Up to 24 hours of backup is provided during days without adequate
sunlight exposure. Equipped with a battery charger, operators may plug the
system into 110V outlets to charge the batteries and power equipment, in the
event of limited sunlight.
Light Mast: This
telescoping five stage steel light mast from Larson Electronics is designed to
allow operators to quickly and safely deploy a variety of equipment in locations
where it must be elevated to heights up to 32` for effective coverage. This
light mast can be extended to 30` above the trailer floor for maximum area
coverage, and collapsed to 10.88` for applications where a smaller footprint is
required. The tower is constructed of square steel tubing with a base section
6.6` in length and 6" by 6" by 3/16" thick, lower section 6.78` in
length and 5" by 5" by 3/16" thick, middle section 6.93` in length and
4" by 4" by 1/8" thick, upper section 7.08` in length and 3" by 3" by 1/8"
thick, and top section 7.58` in length and 2" by 2" by 1/8" thick. Each section
has a 1`+ overlap. The mast is elevated using an included 1,000 lbs electric winch with 3/16" cable and extended to its full height using a second 1,000 lbs electric winch. Junction
boxes are mounted at the top of the first stage and at the very top of the mast
for equipment setup, connection, and deployment.
A 44"
wide and 2" by 2" by 1/4" thick mounting plate is attached to the upper section
of the mast which provides a strong and stable platform for the equipped LED
light fixtures. When elevated to its full upright position, the mast can be
rotated a full 360°. By loosening the T-Handle, operators can rotate the mast
with easy in either direction. The mast can be positioned in one of four
different positions, and locked back in place by re-tightening the T-handle. The
mast itself spins freely with easy, and can typically be rotated with a single
hand. The LM series of towers are powder coated with glossy blue finish for
corrosion resistances and aesthetics.
The
LM family of telescoping towers feature a proprietary mast guidance system,
which provide increased stability during high winds. Four 1,000 lbs hand crank
leveling jacks are used for leveling. The jacks can be leveled by hand crank or
attachment provided for power drills. These outriggers can be extended 2` out
from the side of the trailer for added stability.
Solar Panel
Assembly: This unit is comprised of four 265-watt solar panels,
generating a total maximum output of 1.06 KW. The panels are mounted to a slider
assembly. The panels are wired to the solar charger control box which manages
the charging system. The four solar panels are mounted to a frame angled at 45°
to capture the intensity of the sun for optimized light intake. During
deployment, the solar panels on the SPLT-1.06K-LM30-EW-1XN3B-3KAH-AC.110V are slid out by the operator to the
light collecting position. During transit, the solar panels are on top of each
other in a secure position.
Solar Charge
Controller: In this 24 volt system solar control system, each panel is
terminated with a fused combiner box with a single lever action cut-off switch.
With the switch set to the `on` position, the combiner box passes power to the
60-amp capacity Morningstar TriStart MPPT solar charge controller. Oddly enough,
most charge controllers aren't rated past 104 degrees Fahrenheit despite the
fact the will always be close to direct sunlight. In the summer time in Texas,
our fabrication shop is normally warmer than that, so this solar light tower
uses a charge controller that would support the southern heat. We improve on
that capability by shading the charge controller and adding additional air flow
from the exhaust of a 1400 CFM component cooling system.
Component Control
Center: In order to ensure that the 50% threshold on the batteries is
controlled, this solar trailer includes a system of min/max voltage sensors and
relays that monitor the voltage produced by the batteries and will automatically
shut off power distribution when the battery capacity falls below 50%. This
protects the batteries from failure. We also include ground fault protection and
an Morningstar RM-2 remote digital monitoring system to track and log all
activities related to the charger controller and battery health. In the event
there is an issue with the solar trailer, the SD card can be removed from the
Morningstar RM-2 and sent to Larson Electronics for analysis.
Component Control
Center: All the electrical components are encapsulated in a NEMA 3R job
box that is bolted to the trailer. Since most of these components are not rated
for high heat, our component cooling system circulates air within the job box at
1400 CFM when the ambient temperature exceeds 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The job box
that contains the component control system includes locks for security
purposes.
Trailer Assembly:
The entire assembly is mounted to a 8` by 4`, single axle trailer via
six 1/2" anchor bolts. The two wheel trailer is equipped with 3,500 lbs axle and
leaf springs with 15" trailer tires. A standard 2" ball coupling, two standard
safety chains, and 7-pin flat trailer plug allow for easy hookup and towing. The
trailer tongue can be removed for long term deployment. A rugged and waterproof
job box is included, safely secured to the trailer. Four outriggers mounted to
the corners of the trailer allow operators to level the trailer, and provide
stabilization during deployment. The SPLT-1.06K-LM30-EW-1XN3B-3KAH-AC.110V features a removable tongue for
long term deployment. All trailer lighting complies with DOT/FMVSS
regulations.
