From hard-hitting, pulsating original compositions to lilting, eloquent ballads, pianist Pete Malinverni plays with maturity and self confidence. On his fourth CD for Reservoir Music, he is accompanied by the rhythm section of bassist Dennis Irwin and drummer Leroy Williams. Pete's original compositions include the beautiful ballad "Elegy," a tribute to two friends who perished on September 11th at the World Trade Center, and the tango-inspired "Contemplative". Also included are "My Shining Hour" and "Too Close for Comfort," along with two Jerome Kern compositions, "Long Ago And Far Away" and the rarely performed "In Love in Vain," plus he Vernon Duke classic "Autumn in New York".
