If the battery stays on the unit, it must be protected against other baggage, or other cargo. Suppose the mobility device does not provide adequate protection. In that case, the battery must be removed, battery terminals covered, and the battery must be taken on as carry-on baggage.
Before traveling with your power chair or mobility scooter, we recommend you contact your airline on how to transport your battery as a passenger. You might be required to plan prior to your trip, and additional time might be needed for check-in.
Before your trip, you should also check with your airline if your folded-up wheelchair/device will be allowed in the passenger cabin or if the mobility device, with batteries removed, will have to travel as checked baggage.
A few things to know about your lithium battery:
- Lithium batteries do not need to be replaced after each use.
- When plugged in, the lithium battery will begin recharging when the power comes back on.
- The amber LED indicator light tells you when the lithium battery is charging. The light turns green when it is fully charged.
