Antique Blue & White Dinner Plate India Temple c.1820

This transfer-printed creamware plate is much more beautiful than in my photos. It has a mystique about it that's hard to define - possibly because it was made way back in the 1st quarter of the 19th century, or b/c the Met Museum has one in its permanent collection, or b/c the cobalt blue decoration is still as crisp as the day it was made. The backstamp reads, "India Temple. /Stone China /J. W. R." in a shield surrounded by willow tree boughs. The initials stand for John and William Ridgway of Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent, England. The partnership lasted from 1814-1830 and is also the date range of the production of this plate's pattern, India Temple. Diameter is 10 inches. Condition is very good with a small area of discoloration in the center of the plate above and next to the temple; also the white edge of the shoulder of the plate has discoloration. I could find no cracks, chips, knife marks or crazing.
