The Montreal singer-songwriter's second album, Strange Nights, was released this month - two years after his debut Into the Woods, Out of the Woods - and the new collection's blend of classic-rock songwriting chops, nifty guitar riffing and his endearing vocals have earned rave reviews And with good reason. Strange Nights was co-produced by Papanicolaou and Brad Barr from ultrahot local roots-rock outfit The Barr Brothers, with Barr also contributing piano, harmonium and guitar throughout. The rhythm section comes courtesy of drummer Simon Blouin and bassist Benoit Morier. Blouin plays alongside Papanicolaou in popular Quebec rocker Vincent Vallières's backing band.
